Your company's official legal address.
The Registered Office Address is the official address of the company. It appears publicly on the Companies House register and is used for:
- Companies House correspondence
- HMRC statutory correspondence
- Court documents
- Legal notices
- Other official company communications
The address must be a physical UK address in the same jurisdiction in which the company is incorporated. It must also be an “appropriate address”, meaning official documents can reasonably be expected to reach someone acting for the company and delivery can be acknowledged.
Why an appropriate address matters.
Companies House may take action where a registered office is not considered appropriate.
If an address is changed to the Companies House default address, the company may be required to provide an appropriate replacement address with evidence within the prescribed period. Failure to resolve the issue may place the company at risk of enforcement or strike-off action.
A reliable registered office service helps ensure that statutory correspondence is received and brought to the company’s attention.
